Sport clubs are communities comprised of passion and social relations around activities. It is a perfect setup for storytelling and for inspiring potential members. By use of social media a club can share all this with their local community including people not even aware of the club in the first place.
However, a recent analysis of 123 Danish tennis clubs showed:
– less than half used a Facebook page,
– almost all Facebook pages could improve their reach significantly by a better understanding of Facebook’s algorithm, and
– not a single club used Facebook events successfully.
The potential for spreading more joy, passion and motivation is huge – in tennis and all other sports. No one has taken this serious for 5-6 years. Now Sport & Social Media does. Hopefully more organisations will follow.
